Meeting with Emilie, #YUJgirl

A brief overview

Can you introduce yourself ? Hello to all Yujista! My name is Emilie, I'm 25 and I live in Annecy with my husband, my dog and my cat! I grew up in Paris, where my family lives, but I prefer to go there as a tourist, it's the best way to appreciate the city for me. After a hotel school and a business school, I embarked on the adventure of entrepreneurship in 2015, with the creation of Naoussa Studio .

When and how did this passion for yoga come to you? I started yoga ten or twelve years ago. As a child, I was not very athletic and yoga seemed to me to be a way to move and relax gently. My first yogic experience was disastrous, I found myself in a smelly gymnasium with a crowd of people and a teacher who asked us to think out of our bodies. However, I did not give up and after a year of self-taught learning, I signed up for a course with a teacher who was able to pass on his passion to me. Since then, I haven't gone a day without practicing!

What does this represent in your daily life? Yoga is a guiding thread, the backbone of my daily life. I stretch gently in the morning, and I do a few minutes of meditation by setting a beautiful intention for this new day. I give between one and three hours of lessons a day, never more. In the evening, I always take a moment to lay down on my mat ( YUJ , of course) and let myself be carried away by what's coming (at the moment it's more "yin"!). Yoga helps me take a step back from situations. It doesn't mean that I'm zen all the time, but I have enough distance to say to myself: "here, you have the choice between getting upset and letting it go". It is a drishti, a look at the world...

Do you find time to practice during your travels? Haha! Of course ! The first thing I do when I arrive in a new place is find the best "spot" for my practice! My relatives know it.

What is your favorite YUJ product? I love the clothing lines as a whole, chic with a little detail that makes the difference (like the Parisians, right?).
My favorite goes to the YUJ carpet , it's my flying carpet, very soft and easy to carry!

The world

What is your favorite country so far? I had the chance to make many trips because my parents are passionate! I love Africa, which reconnects me to the essentials. I also lived in India, a country apart to which I became attached.
However, my favorite is less exotic, since it is Greece! I feel at home there. It was in Greece, on the island of Paros, that I had the "revelation" that I had to teach yoga.

Good addresses to share? THE good address is " Space " in Goa. Vegan cuisine, tasty, homemade, in an exceptional setting... I have never found an equivalent!

For you, is “the place to be”? My grandparents' garden, a verdant haven of peace.

indiscretions

In the cinema, which actors/directors make you dream? I really like Woody Allen, between obsolescence and cruelty. His way of depicting the world, love stories, as if, deep down, there was no logic but rather chance.

A quote that defines you? "We must cultivate our garden" by Voltaire, in Candide.
Cultivate your inner garden, take care of your body. And at the same time, it brings us back to something much more trivial, earthly. Contact with the Earth, the natural elements, is simply vital to us.

What does a day in the life of Emilie look like? I get up early, put on leggings and a T-shirt and go out to walk my dog Lefkès in the Jardins de l'Europe, two minutes from my house. The trees there are magnificent, I try to learn their names. I have always enjoyed the quietness of the morning. After a brief meditation, I get to work with a cup of tea or coffee. If I don't teach in the morning, I usually work on my computer, studying (at the moment Italian and Ayurveda). Sometimes I also draw, paint, or go for a long walk in the mountains.
Every day is different, it's a real chance to be able to live at your own pace and follow your desires!
