A brief overview
Can you introduce yourself ? Faustine, 26 years old, soon to be 27, I was born in Belfort but I grew up in the Paris region in a family of passionate musicians. I started by studying oboe in a classical conservatory for a good ten years in parallel with a fairly traditional school career, then I discovered jazz, soul, and my voice by taking my first steps on club stages. of jazz in Paris at the age of 15. Today, I am lucky to have been able to share the stage with marvelous artists in magical places like the Olympia and to have taken part in the recording of superb albums. At the same time, I hold a BTS in Real Estate and I roam the streets of Paris in search of extraordinary properties for adorable clients.
When and how did this passion for yoga come to you?
2012 was a somewhat complicated year for me and following the death of my grandfather, my bearings were completely dislocated. I somehow landed in a yoga class, alone, but by chance this wonderful, caring teacher was none other than an old high school friend who had gone to South America. It was love at first sight, the aches too, and I felt for the first time something that I didn't know, this possibility of letting go, on me, on everything.
What does yoga represent in your daily life? After a few years of practice, this desire to transmit and share that I can find on stage, became stronger and I trained to become a teacher with Expansion Voice & Freedom with Amanda Dates & Janelle Watters Olliel. So inevitably, my daily life has radically changed! There is on one side my personal practice, composed of at least 30 minutes/1 hour of practice per day, meditation and on the other side my classes. And finding the smiling faces of my students is the greatest gift!
Do you find time to practice during your travels? Of course ! All I need is a rug, a towel and a quiet place to lay down and instantly find that moment I love so much. If I'm on vacation with relatives, I set my alarm clock a little earlier in the morning and I take advantage of the rather special calm of these mild hours.
What is your favorite YUJ product? Trick question ! At the moment, the NAMAST'HEY mat, so soft under my feet, and the MULHADARA leggings, whose seams and material are not only comfortable but also rather advantageous!
The world
What is your favorite country so far? Cameroon without a doubt. I spent two weeks there with my lover and his family who come from Douala, and I only dream of going back. Over there, time no longer matters, only the present matters, we go back to basics, far from our world, because the needs are not the same, the concerns are not more. A great life lesson.
Good addresses to share? In Paris, Ten Belles Bread, for calm, tranquility, good coffee and their hidden terrace between two buildings to chat with anyone. In London, the Mildreds restaurant, vegetarian but far from boring, the dishes are all fabulous! In Cameroon, the beaches of Kribi, on the coast, fabulous landscapes and equatorial climate await you.
For you "The place to be" is it? My parents' garden to bask in the sun, my lover's arms after a long day of mop and my yoga mat from which each class given is a joy!
indiscretions
In the cinema, which actors/directors make you dream? As you have understood, I'm more into music than cinema, so I'm cheating! I admire all the music legends who have done so much and are still with us like Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder & Aretha Franklin who rocked my childhood. Seeing them still standing, still giving so much, makes me want to do the same!
A quote that defines you? "The future depends on what you do today." Gandhi
What does a day in Faustine's life look like? Get up between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. depending on the day, a large glass of water, my sometimes short but essential yoga practice to wake up my body, a few minutes of meditation, a real big breakfast and I go in the shower before moving on. between courses and real estate searches! In the evening, depending on the time and my availability, yoga classes, light dinner in peace or with friends, maybe a glass of wine, laughter, and I slip under the duvet to give my body time to rest !
