Meeting with Camille, #YUJgirl

A brief overview

Can you introduce yourself ? Currently I am a yoga teacher but I had other jobs before: art therapist, specialized educator, artistic make-up artist, volunteer cook in events, setting up a festival….I think that we can have several professional lives, it's a perpetual evolution… What I love about yoga is that you are in training for life!!! My entourage says of me that I am fireworks...a little explosive but above all very colorful...I live life at 1000 an hour and my work is a total fulfillment for me...I never stop to work (because I don't feel like I'm working!!!) my head is full of projects….every meeting a new project is born, I LOVE IT!!!!! I'm good at living, I love to eat, I think we live to eat and not the other way around. In addition to the practice of yoga which is an integral part of my life, I like to play sports, play, dance, I like meals with friends, fancy dress parties….

When and how did this passion for yoga come to you? Thanks to a dancer friend who gave us lessons during my art therapy training. It was a revelation. Then, I went to live in Montreal where the diversity of studios allowed me to test everything, I don't think there is a studio that I haven't visited in 4 years spent there and yoga is became my passion, I left my job to sometimes do 2 courses in a row. The magic of yoga has changed my life….

What does this represent in your daily life? It is my axis of life, yoga has changed my vision of the world, my vision of everyday life. I was quickly bored by everyday life and routine, the stress of work… yoga brought me this full awareness of the present moment, this new vision of the world. Everything has calmed down in me, I feel serene in the face of life and everyday life takes on a new face with a thousand flavors every day…. Tell us about your project to give yoga classes in atypical places... After 10 years of work in the social and associative sectors, I loved creating unique events to take people out of their daily lives, in order to to bring them together, to federate them…. When I opened Inspire Yoga two years ago, I already had this objective of taking yoga out of the studio so that the environment could dialogue with the yogi during his practice. I was waiting for the right moment to do it, now that the studio is alive, I have the time and above all this immense DESIRE to link events and yoga.

The world

What is your favorite country so far? I could talk about Japan which enchanted me (my husband is Japanese!) But my heart answers Quebec. There is my life before and after Quebec. This country and its wonderful people have made me evolve so much! It was in Montreal that yoga really came into my life…

Good addresses to share? For the people of Avignon, a tea by the fire at the Hôtel de La Mirande….a place steeped in history, intimate, cozy, where time stops…. For Parisians, the hammam Les Bains de Sadia in the 20th arrondissement, I love going there with my friends. The coffee industry near Bastille is the perfect place between friends, also from aperitif to meal in a retro decor. Rasa yoga I make my yoga pilgrimage there as soon as I go up to Paris…

For you, is “the place to be”? On my yoga mat ;)

In the cinema, which actors/directors make you dream? Xavier Dolan what a genius, what an artist!!

A quote that defines you? Dreams are made to be realized.

What does a day in the life of Camille Roux look like? Up at 7:30 a.m. without an alarm clock, I hate sleeping in, I feel like I'm wasting time ;) A coffee on the terrace with my lover, whom I don't see much, because he's a restaurant owner… (yes, in Avignon you can sit on the terrace all year round). A short trip to the studio to leave a bouquet of flowers, clean up, then return to my office to answer emails, manage the administration… go to the Collection Lambert to visit the museum and choose a new room for the next lesson… . find one of my teacher colleagues for a meeting to organize the yoga retreat that we are going to give this summer, set up our yoga/pilates fusion workshops. Finding my yoga mat for my personal practice….cooking, juicing with my extractor…. At the end of the day, go to the studio to give my lesson…then stay chatting with the students for more than 1 hour over tea after class…sometimes even end up at a restaurant with them! sleep around 1 am I fall asleep in 2 seconds … Oommm
