Meeting with our YUJgirl, Perrine

A brief overview

Can you introduce yourself ? My name is Perrine, I am a yoga fan, practitioner (for about 8 years), teacher recently and mother of a little girl (soon to be two!). I now live in Marseille, after more than 10 years spent abroad, mainly in New York, but also Toronto, Montreal and 6 months in India, which transformed me deeply. I work in nutrition and yoga, after a professional retraining and more than 10 years spent working in marketing in cosmetics.

On my website www.sweet-yogini.com , you will find these few words, which define me well: Yogini at Heart, Culinary Nutrition Expert, Healthy Sweet Lover & Maker, Natural Health & Beauty, Citizen of the World, Mama on a Mission .

In French it would give: Yogini de Coeur, Coach in Nutrition, Sweet Beak, Fan of Natural Beauty, Citizen of the World, Mom on a Mission.

When and how did this passion for yoga come to you? It was a friend who once suggested that I take a Bikram Yoga class with her. This style of yoga corresponded well to my New York life at the time and above all I lived 2 steps from the studio. I quickly took a liking to it and saw the many benefits, both physical and mental, emotional and other that yoga brought me. Today I mainly practice Hatha Yoga, but Bikram had the merit of bringing me into the world of yoga. My trip to India and the training I did there made me understand that yoga was much more than a physical practice but a philosophy of life.

What does this represent in your daily life? I practice it daily (or almost) at home, for the preparation of my lessons or not. I am currently following a 2-year training, one Sunday per month, which was the trigger to appreciate the personal practice, alone. But I still really like to practice with the energy of a group and a teacher, and I take classes once or twice a week.

Do you find time to practice during your travels? During the trips, I admit that it's harder, especially with a little girl who climbs on me at the slightest dog upside down!

What is your favorite YUJ product? I am a fan of the anti-slip mat. First, because my hands slide quickly on a mat and it makes my practice so much easier. Two, because it's super practical and light to carry around when I don't want to carry the weight of my mat. Three, I love the colors and the message that is written there.

    The world

What is your favorite country so far? Bali, a country where I had the opportunity to go twice. I find the culture and the reverence for life there magnificent, as all these offerings that can be found on every street corner testify to it.

Good addresses to share? I have a whole section on my site where I share my favorites. I did it mostly before I was a mom, but you'll find plenty of good addresses in New York, Montreal and a few in Marseille. If you go to India, I highly recommend The Yoga House in Bombay.

For you, "the place to be" is it? Right here, right now! I've had the chance to travel a lot over the past few years, and today nothing makes me happier than spending time with my daughter and my husband.

    indiscretions

In the cinema, which actors/directors make you dream? Ouhalala, it's been a long time since I passed the age of being a groupie, but I had a black and white poster of James Dean on my bedroom wall as a teenager.

A quote that defines you? Someone once told me "Life never gives you more than you can take", or life never gives you more than you can handle. I see life as a school and every obstacle as an opportunity to learn and grow.

What does a day in the life of Perrine look like? Up around 6:30, ideally, to practice yoga and meditation before my daughter wakes up. Preparing a “healthy” breakfast for the whole family then I drop her off at her super nanny. I then return to work at home, either for the Academy of Culinary Nutrition for which I am a Program Coach, or to write on my site , or I to do English-French translations or to prepare my yoga classes or Yoga workshops, Food & Beauty that I host from time to time. I then dedicate time to preparing a fresh juice and dinner with the help of my daughter whom I like to involve despite her 1 year and a half! Once the latter went to bed, the evenings were spent talking quietly with my husband or reading about the subjects that fascinate me like…. yoga and nutrition. I never get bored !
